Established in the 1870's, Delacre was first known for its Belgian chocolate. Thanks to Charles Delacre's use of only the finest ingredients their reputation led to an appointment as purveyor to the Belgian Royal House in 1879.
In the 1890's the Maitres Patissiers of Delacre applied their "Savoir Faire" to making fine biscuits covered with their own rich chocolate. Soon their biscuits became so popular, Delacre began to produce them exclusively, with the same demanding quality standards that made their chocolate famous.

Tortuga Caribbean Rum Cakes
Founded in 1984, Tortuga Rum Company has grown to become the largest duty-free liquor business in the Cayman Islands. Husband and wife team Robert and Carlene Hamaty, started the company while they were both employed by the islands national airline, Cayman Airways. Robert was a captain (previously for Air Jamaica) and Carlene was an in-flight supervisor. While piloting for Air Jamaica, Robert noticed passengers boarding his plane carrying Bermuda Rum. Realizing Bermuda did not have the resources to distill their own rum, he investigated, only to discover that it was actually made in Jamaica, and shipped to Bermuda to be bottled. That was when he decided the Cayman Islands should have their own rum too, and the idea of Tortuga Rum was culminated. They started the company with two blended rums, Tortuga Gold and Tortuga Light. Tortuga Rum is a combination of Jamaican Rum and Barbados Rum specially blended for the Cayman Islands; therefore it is like no other.

The aim of our company has always been to manufacture our products very carefully in order to preserve the traditional way in which nougat was made by our ancestors. For this reason, our demands are mainly based on the selection of the best raw materials which enable us to manufacture our sweets.
Therefore, we would like to make sure that those clients with the most exclusive sense of taste will be able to enjoy a high-quality product like ours. Our company is located on the Spanish Mediterranean coast, in Jijona (Alicante), where nougat originally comes from.
Of Arabic origins, this sweet, made essentially with an almond base and honey, turron is an indisputably and important item on any Christmas table.
Turron from Alicante is a nougat obtained by cooking honey and adding toasted almonds (usually peeled) and egg whites and kneading it to form a rectangular or round tablet. It is characteristically hard and it is known especially for the presence of whole or nearly whole peeled almonds. Despite the obvious industrialisation of its production, the process is still basically the same as it traditionally has been for centuries.
